Rise in flexible working sets path for coworking revolution in the UK

The Office of National Statistics recently predicted that 50% of the UK workforce will work remotely by next year and over 90% of staff said they would like to work remotely at least part-time. This shift in more flexible working patterns is no surprise when you look at the endless benefits for employers; a more productive workforce, higher retention rates and happier employees, to name just a few. Not to forget the benefits for employees; no commuting, stronger work-life integration, increased productivity and better health.

Working for Acceleration Partners – a 100% remote working company – I can certainly see the benefits. I am able to balance both the demands of my work and my personal life, this means more of my time is my own and less is wasted on a commuting, giving me greater control over my work day. I can fit my work around the demands of everyday life and can work in my home office as well as a coworking space. Acceleration Partners have a global workforce of over 170 employees all of which work remotely, this is real testament to the fact that remote working, if done correctly, can work at scale. Remote working is an inherent part of our company culture and creating an accountable, productive and motivated global team.

This rise in flexible working has created a ‘coworking revolution’ that’s seeing not only flexible workers and freelancers take up coworking memberships but also corporations who would have traditionally been housed in offices  becoming a growing portion of the flexible workspace audience. The collaborative nature of coworking spaces is appealing to firms who want flexibility, networking opportunities and shared facilities. The way we use offices is changing. In fact, allwork recently shared that coworking will take up to 20% of total office stock by 2030, compared to just 2% today.
