In this month’s edition of our Employee Spotlight series, we talked to Associate Account Manager, Thomas Pfeiffer. Thomas shares how remote working accommodates his lifestyle, changes in the industry since starting his career and how he got started in the affiliate industry.
How did you get started in the affiliate industry?
After getting my MBA degree in Paris 10 years ago, I moved back to Germany and decided to go to Berlin and start working at a French-German affiliate marketing agency, where I was managing clients in the Electronics & Service sector.
Can you tell us more about your role at AP as Associate Account Manager, and what this involves?
I’m managing some of the most important publishers of one of our key eCommerce clients. I build strong relationships, optimise partner performance and work on special placements, such as Black Friday. On top of that, I also take care of reporting and improving team processes.
What attracted you to working at AP EMEA?
First of all, I enjoy AP’s culture. It matches my personal working style just right! Remote working is the future and something I’ve always been looking for. Then, of course, I love to be able to work in an international setting and get to know people from all over the world. Knowing I would work for big eCommerce client, made my decision even easier.
What changes have you seen in the industry since you started your career?
Ten years ago, mobile wasn’t a big thing and social media wasn’t on the radar. Looking at where the affiliate industry is now, there are so many more opportunities to pursue and its reputation improved big time. There are also new up and coming trends, such as content commerce. Bigger campaigns and paid placements with huge budgets is something that’s definitely new.
How does remote working accommodate your lifestyle?
Since I always like to change things up a bit, remote working is made for me. I can structure every week in a different way. Last October I worked for 4 weeks from Portugal, in an attempt to escape the gloom of Berlin. Starting work each morning from a room with a view, is something I definitely recommend to anyone who’s still not convinced how cool this lifestyle is.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I’m a travel addict so I guess I’d love to beam anywhere instantly. Jumping from place to place every day would give you such a wonderful sense of possibility and of new things just waiting to be discovered.
