Last week, 50 cyclists from across the affiliate marketing industry took on the industry fitness challenge of the year, cycling from London to Paris in 24-hours. The challenge taken on by many who claimed to “have never cycled before” as well as some industry “pro-cyclists” saw participants cycling 180 miles, with less than 3 hours sleep.
The event, organised by the Acceleration Partners UK team, brought together people from across the affiliate industry to take on the networking-based endurance challenge, including, Webgains, Awin, Partnerize, Optimise Media, Button, Wonderbill, Navigate Digital, Affiliate Summit and getCake.
After reaching Paris, the cycle team celebrated their achievements with a traditional French 3-course meal sponsored by Acceleration Partners and toasted their achievements with French champagne, sponsored by Affiliate Summit.
Cyclists taking part also raised funds for the British Heart Foundation reaching a total of over £13,000. In addition to the British Heart Foundation fundraising, cyclists taking part in the event from Awin raised funds for their company charity, Mind, reaching a total of over £11,700.
We’re incredibly proud to have raised over £24,700 for two such worthwhile causes.
Helen Southgate, Acceleration Partners’ EMEA Managing Director commented,
“I feel very proud right now to be part of an industry that has such a great bunch of people. London to Paris in 24 hours is a tough ride for any cyclist, and many of those who took part were new to cycling. It was a supportive and fun atmosphere all the way along. Everyone should be incredibly proud of their achievement. In addition, to raise nearly £25,000 for the BHF and Mind is incredible.”
We’d like to thank everyone in the industry that helped make this idea come to life, those that supported our fundraising efforts and most importantly the 50 affiliate industry professionals who pedalled all the way to Paris.
