Employee Spotlight: Kat Cleveland

In this month’s Employee Spotlight, we chatted with Associate Account Manager, Kat Cleveland about her time at Acceleration Partners (AP), tips for staying productive and life at a remote agency.

How did you end up working at Acceleration Partners?

My husband and I loved vacationing in Palm Springs and decided shortly after we got married to move there. The industries in Palm Springs are fairly limited, so I began to look for marketing positions that would allow me to work remotely.

When I learned about AP’s core values, I knew I’d found the perfect place to work. Acceleration Partners has allowed us to follow our dreams and live in Palm Springs!

Of the three core values – excel and improve, embrace relationships and own it, can you pick the one you most closely identify with and why?

It is difficult to pick just one as they are so closely intertwined!

Excel and improve is a value that I have always held myself to. When doing anything – starting a new position, taking on a new project, implementing a different routine – I cannot settle for status-quo.

I continually want to find ways to improve and strive for the next level. While this can sometimes cause me to be impatient with myself, focusing on excel and improve helps me know I am doing my best work.

You’ve worked on a variety of client accounts at AP. What do you think AP does really well as an agency for all clients?

We truly listen and tailor all strategies to fit the goals of the client. There’s no way for any program to have a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all approach. We ensure that our recommendations and strategies align with the needs of the client and we aren’t afraid to make adjustments as necessary.

What do you enjoy most about working in a completely remote environment?

Forging friendships all over the world!

I am so lucky to work with the most talented people in the industry who live literally all over the world.  Anytime I travel somewhere I look for an opportunity to meet up with a colleague. Last year visited Gaby, an AP’er in Mexico, and took a couples trip to New York with Kari who lives in Minneapolis!

Agency life can be fast-paced. What are some techniques you use to stay productive and happy?

Ensuring I take time out of the day for myself.

My husband and I work opposite schedules, so we always have breakfast and lunch together. I prioritize my fitness classes by booking appointments ahead of time. Pilates and yoga keep me active and balanced.

When you aren’t managing affiliate programs, how do you like to spend your time outside of work?

I love to travel, whether it is short (LA) or long (France!) distances. I also tend to be a ‘foodie’ and I am always trying new restaurants and dishes. When we travel, it always revolves around food!

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation so that I could travel more quickly!

And if you could teleport somewhere right this minute, where would you go?

I’m about to leave for a trip to France, so I won’t give the easy answer. I’m from the Midwest, so I’d love to drop in on a beautiful autumn day in Wisconsin, spending a Saturday morning at the Madison farmer’s market.
