Executive Assistant to Acceleration Partners (AP) founder and CEO, Robert Glazer, Heather Montgomery is in tune with a vast majority of the happenings here at AP. Always a pleasure to chat with and always with a smile on her face, those who have the pleasure of knowing Heather are all the better for it!
We sat down with Heather to learn more about her history with the company and chatted about how she embraces work life integration with a few of her favorite hobbies and activities outside of Acceleration Partners.
I can’t imagine a time in which you weren’t at Acceleration Partners, but when exactly did you start at the company?
I started working at Acceleration Partners in January of 2013, so a little over six years.
It’s crazy how time flies. How did you end up working at Acceleration Partners?
I had been working remotely for about five years and was hoping to find another job working from home. During my job search I came across the posting for an Executive Assistant to the CEO of Acceleration Partners and it seemed like the perfect fit.
I faxed my resume over (because, yes, we did use to fax over resumes at one time) and was pleasantly surprised when Emily Tetto, who was Senior Manager of Talent and Culture at that time, called me about the position. Coincidentally, Emily and I had worked together many years ago at Bain & Company in Boston, MA and it was great chatting with her again.
Following my call with Emily, I had a fantastic interview with Bob at the Panera near his home and knew immediately that I wanted to work with him. We had so much in common including three kids around the same ages.
What’s one aspect of your job that you truly love?
One aspect of my job that I truly enjoy is coordinating Bob’s calendar. I love the challenge of figuring out how to make things fit like a puzzle. There is never a dull moment when it comes to Bob’s schedule and things are constantly changing. It definitely keeps me on my toes!
When you aren’t wrangling Bob’s calendar, what is your favorite hobby or activity to participate in?
I love to run! I have run eight marathons and just signed up for my ninth next Fall. I find the short runs to be a great stress reliever and the long training runs meditative and therapeutic.
What is something about yourself that may surprise us?
I love to coach soccer! I have been coaching my kids for about 10 years and absolutely love it. I am also on our town’s Soccer Board and am the Registrar. It is a wonderful way to give back and be an involved member of the community. I highly recommend it!
If you could check any item off of your bucket list what would it be?
Take my kids to Hawaii! And I will be checking that off in the beginning April as part of my 5-year anniversary trip from AP.
What are you currently watching on Netflix?
At the moment I’m watching Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, but I can’t wait for the next Stranger Things to begin!
