Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!)

In July, the whole Acceleration Partners team gathered outside Boston for one of our semi-annual all-company meetings. With team members spread across the United States from Boston to San Francisco, it’s rare we’re all ever in the same place at the same time.

Everyone looks forward to catching up with old familiar faces and meeting the new employees who are helping to drive the company’s phenomenal growth.

We spent a jam-packed two days together, with breakout sessions for each of our practices, a review of the state of the company, and an overview of upcoming initiatives. It’s certainly a lot of work, but we make room for some unique team building exercises and fun too.

2014-07-10 16.47.04Almost one full day of the meeting was devoted to an interactive session called the Why Engine, intended to help unify the driving force behind each individual employee with the driving force behind the company as a whole.

In the morning, each of us shared stories from our professional and personal lives in order to find our ‘Why’ – the fundamental motivating force behind why we do what we do and what makes us feel successful.

2014-07-10 19.16.15Then we identified the company’s ‘Why’ and all of the different ways we can contribute to it as individuals without sacrificing our personal sense of worth. We ended with a brainstorming session of how we could present the company publicly in a way that wouldn’t just let clients know what we do, but why we do it.

Each of us ended the day with a different colored bracelet representing our particular ‘Why.’ Put together, they’re an awesome visual representation of how we each contribute to the company in our own unique way.

We made time for some fun too, with a cookout in Bob Glazer’s backyard and a fierce cornhole tournament. Check out pictures from the event below.
